Hi, my name is Muneebah Umar and I'm currently a senior at the Mississippi School for Mathematics and Science (MSMS). I am the Editor-in-Chief for MSMS's student-run newspaper, The Vision. Coming from a diverse background, I've always appreciated different perspectives. This fostered my love for journalism and journalists' talent for shedding light on obscure subjects and presenting common ones in unique ways. Coming to MSMS was the first opportunity I had to pursue journalism, so I immediately applied to be the Lead Copy Editor for The Vision my junior year and signed up for the Journalism class.
This year I've worked with the staff and editorial board to better The Vision. We started a daily publishing cycle and cover most news events within 48 hours. Looking back at the year so far, I'm proud of everything we have achieved and am excited for our last few months.
After I graduate I know the skills I learned from journalism and leading The Vision will positively influence me. The hard work, collaboration, and commitment exbited by all the staff members constantly makes me grateful for being surrounded by a wonderful team.
